Skin Emergencies
When there’s little or no time for repair, turn to these
quick fixes for unexpected emergencies that can crop up
on the skin.
* Whether caused by rosacea, acne, stress or the climate,
redness and irritation can be calmed from the inside out.
* Vitamins and supplements rich in anti-inflammatory
antioxidants like licorice, green tea and aloe vera
can reduce redness.
* Because the fragile skin under the eye is thinner
than the rest of the face, dark circles and puffiness
appear more prominent when there is a lack of sleep
or an overabundance of stress.
* A lack of sleep or stress itself can cause common under-eye
problems like puffiness and dark circles. But in some cases,
these concerns can be long-lasting, and chances are, the
cause is a loss of fat or collagen, or even both.
* If under-eye circles and puffiness don’t go away on their own,
or with the help of topical products, lower blepharoplasty,
which can remove or reposition fat, may be the best option.
* The skin is responsible for eliminating nearly 10 percent of
the body’s toxins.
* Exposure to smoke and alcohol deprives your skin of oxygen
and much needed nutrients, making it dehydrated, dull, sallow
and prone to premature aging.
