She have a magical hands and her clicks speaks a lot.

Shall we go to meet my second guest Divya Prakash of Divyas Culinary Journey..

When Priya Akka came up with the idea of Rendevous with a Foodie, I immediately wanted to be a part of it.  Little did I then know, that will lead to some wonderful friendships which I will cherish throughout my life time. We have bonded so much that our group chat, is full of laughter and fun, it is like the good old college times. Thanks to Priya Akka for all these.

She is one of the most wonderful person I have come across and a versatile blogger whom I look up with much respect. She has been blogging for five years and have been posting almost every single day. She has approximately 2390 recipes in her space. So it was challenge for me to decide on what I want to make for her that is special and has not been already blogged by her. I wanted to make something sweet and something baked. Finally zeroed on this Raspberry pinwheels and it came out really wonderful. My kids just loved it.

1) Tell us about you and your blog?

My name is Divya. I am from Coimbatore and now in USA for the past 3.5 years. I am a stay at home Mom of two kids. My family loves to eat good food and I love to cook for them. My blog shows my passion for cooking and baking. It has tried and tested recipes from my kitchen.

2)Before and after blogging, tell us how blogging changed your life?

Before blogging I would not experiment much, even if I am trying something new, will stick strictly to the recipe and have not tried any other cuisine except Indian. After I started blogging , I have started  experimenting, trying various cuisines.
Being away from home, I used to feel lonely at times. After I started blogging I have got a lot of good friends who are always there when I need them. Priya Akka is one among them.
Before, I was not very interested in Photography. But blogging has changed that. I have developed interest in Photography and I am constantly trying to improve my pictures.

3)When and what motivated you to blog about food?

Before I started blogging, I used to click pictures and share in Facebook. I started my blog on January 31, 2012. Though I created my blogger account much before that, that  day I just created a blog, clicked and posted my first recipe.  I thought with blog, I can share both pictures and recipe to my friends and family. I knew very little about blog then.

My Mom and Dad were and are very supportive. My husband is my first critic. He gives his honest opinion all the time, also when he is free, he proof reads for me and helps me with the clicks. My brother is the one who designed the blog header for me. Though he is a Pilot, he is very good with Photoshop and he is very creative. And you all know about the kids and the help they do for the blog.

4)There are tons of blogs/pages on food these days what according to you is the speciality of your blog and the food that you cook?

I like to cook very simple and easy recipes. I mostly stay away from complicated process. My blog contains simple and easy recipes for a novice cook/ baker.

5)When its comes to cooking, who is your inspiration?

My Mom is my inspiration. My Mom is a working woman, still there are times she has cooked each one of us different dish the same time. She has never complained about it. There are some recipes which taste good only when Mom cooks. We call ‘Kaipakkuvam’ in Tamil. It has been 2 years since I had mom’s food.. Waiting to enjoy her love, pampering and cooking.

6) Every newbie blogger faces tons of challenges when it comes to blogging, tell me about one of the challenges you faced and how did you overcome it? please specify with facts and details.

Every day there will be new challenges. With every challenge I learn something new. In that, One is Social Media. Except Facebook I was not familiar with other social Medias like pinterest, twitter or stumble upon. But now I have account in all three, but except Stumble Upon, I am familiar with other two.

Also other issues like HTML codes, other technical stuffs, when I have such issues, my Hubby will provide the support. These are the convenience of having a husband who is a software person.

7)What is your best recipe and your favourite recipes you have blogged till now?

I like my Oven roasted Broccoli and the other recipes which I  like are Strawberry Jello Pie, Corn Fritter, Chocolate Cake and Blueberry Icecream etc.

8) Few tips about food photography?

I am still a novice photographer..I am still learning every day.
The few tips I want to share,
Lighting is very important. I per daylight for clicking pictures
Composition of the picture is important.
Do a little styling to the food  before clicking.

9)What is your budget for the props,do you have any or else do you manage with your household stuffs?

I don’t spend much for the props. I usually use what I use normally at home. But recently I started buying few props, but I still haven’t used them in any. Surprisingly they are not more than 2-3 $ each.

10) How do you plan your blog post? Do you post rarely, regularly or once a week?

I usually post 3 posts a week. But with change in schedule or if something comes  up, there may be a change in this schedule.

11) Do you have any other passion apart from food blogging or blog you own?

Apart from blogging, I like to paint and also I like to sew. But with an energetic toddler at home, I hardly get time for this.

Relieve Back Pain With Core Strength Training

Weak Muscles Lead to Back Pain

Dunn was erred to the sports medicine program at Life-Bridge Health and Fitness Center, part of a regional health network in Maryland overseen by medical director Michael Kelly, MHSc, a certified neuromuscular therapist. Kelly soon found that, although Dunn was very fit for a man his age, hed neglected some areas of his body. "The muscle groups I was using were in good shape, but then Id isolate other muscle groups, and I could barely lift the weight. I was like an infant," Dunn says.
About 25% of Americans are affected by back pain in a given year, and they spend more time at the doctors office for back pain than for any other medical condition except high blood pressure and diabetes.
Instead of jumping for pills or surgery, says Kelly, people with chronic back pain should first seek out a thorough functional assessment from a qualified trainer with experience in sports medicine.

Exercising for Back Pain

"A lot of back pain is due to postural alignment problems," Kelly says. "If you catch it soon enough and correct the problem with exercise and strengthening, you can avoid future pain."
Today, Dunn has learned a number of ways to use exercise to relieve and prevent back pain. For example, he works hard on strengthening the muscles involved in the bodys core stabilization such as the glutes, a key element in a golfers swing.
"When your torso and hips are moving rapidly from back to front, your back can keep your torso rotating and put incredible strain on your spine," he says. "When you engage your glutes at the end of the swing, its like a brake on the spine."
Back pain can be relieved by many different types of exercises. For instance, a knees-to-chest exercise can be a big help if your pain is due to spinal stenosis, a narrowing of areas in the spine that can put pressure on the nerves. Thats because lying on your back and pulling the knees to the chest for about 60 seconds opens up the disc space in the back, which  relieves pressure on the nerves, says Kelly.
Today, Dunn says, "I still have a tight back from time to time, but the pain has almost completely gone away." Even better: "I havent had to give up golfing!"

Married able to extend the age of patients with prostate cancer

Married able to extend the age of patients with prostate cancer - Men with prostate cancer and 40 percent were married had a lower risk of dying from the disease, according to new research.

Based on these studies, a happy marriage seems to be a weapon that makes powerful men able to fight the disease.

Conversely, men with prostate cancer are divorced, single, or widowed wife tends to be shorter-old. Thats because the effects of stress on the body aggravate their health conditions.

"This study proves that the marriage is indeed able to extend the age of men with prostate cancer," the researchers wrote in the Canadian Journal of Urology, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Cancer is not the only disease that can be warded off bad effects through marriage. Because the research from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore in 2010 ago also mentions that marriage can prevent arthritis attacks.

Deconstructed Guacamole Wraps OR Lime Chicken Salad with Avocado and Tomato Its All in the Name

NOTE #1: Today on Serious Eats, it’s Zucchini Crostini. As much fun to eat as it is to say.

NOTE #2: Wanna help out a good cause? Yay! The Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation is asking CHG readers to fill out this Healthy Eating poll for research. They dont want any personal information – just a few answers to some very worthwhile questions. Head on over!

In my humble, meek, somewhat self-effacing (yes, I used the Thesaurus tool) opinion, one of the best recipes we’ve ever featured on CHG is the unfortunately named Cheesy Eggplant Bake. A tornado of vegetables and frommage, it’s most excellent for those days you just want to pack your face with large quantities of delectable healthiness.

Jeez, though. That name.

Today’s recipe has a similar problem. It’s a limey, fresh, summer-appropriate mixture of chicken and various guacamole-associated ingredients. And ideally, it goes in a wrap, on top of a few leaves of lettuce.

So, do we call our creations Deconstructed Guacamole Wraps? On one hand, the name sounds like the classy-like results of a Top Chef quickfire challenge. On the other hand, what everyday cook ever deconstructs anything? Besides his blender, I mean.

Or, do we go with Lime Chicken Salad with Avocado and Tomato? It lacks the upscale panache of the first name, but it IS much more picnic-ready. Like you can just throw it together and be off. Still, there’s the slight mayo-association that comes whenever you use the word “Salad.” And nobody wants that.

Sweet readers, what to call this thing? Would you go with either of the proposed titles? Would you call it something else entirely? How do we convey that it requires leftover chicken? Am I overthinking this?

(My answers: dunno, maybe, yes, beats me, yes.)

Before you get to brainstorming, though, know this: these wraps, while scrumptious, are much richer than our usual entries, due to a lot of avocado and a not-modest amount of olive oil. However, you can drop a significant amount of fat by reducing each ingredient by half. Not that you have to. This is all pretty healthy, fat-wise.

With that said, how about that name? Im stymied.

If you dig this recipe, these might also float your boat:
  • Chipotle Pork Tenders
  • Pasta with Turkey Sausage and Broccoli Rabe
  • Skillet Chicken Fajitas

Deconstructed Guacamole Wraps
OR Lime Chicken Salad with Avocado and Tomato
Serves 4.

8 ounces grilled chicken, chopped into bite-sized pieces
1 avocado, diced
1 cup halved cherry tomatoes
1/4 cup red onion, minced
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
3 tablespoons lime juice
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
4 large leaves green lettuce
4 tortilla wraps

NOTE: I used grilled chicken thighs for this, due to their moistness and general tastiness. There were three of ‘em and I took each apart with my fingers.

1) In a medium bowl, combine chicken, avocado, cherry tomatoes, red onion, and cilantro. Stir, gently if you have very-ripe avocado.

2) In a small bowl, whisk together lime juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper to taste. Pour on to chicken mixture and stir to combine.

3) Place a few leaves of lettuce on each wrap. Split chicken evenly among wraps. Roll them up. Serve!

Beauty treatment with bee venom

Bee stings can remove wrinkles? It may sound strange, but the bee sting venom is being studied to be used as an anti-aging drug that can magically create beauty youthful face.

Researchers found that bee venom can increase collagen, which makes beauty skin youthful, elastic and reduce the impact of hazards sunlight.

Face masks containing bee venom has become a trend among celebrities over the years. This mask is usually only available in salons and spas.

Now the first new facial treatment using bee venom has also been launched after previously conducted research for 12 years. The research was conducted by scientist Dr Sang Mi Han Korea to New Zealand beauty company, Manuka Doctor which has been available in stores in Holland & Barrett began last Monday.

The company claims this bee venom beauty care is the best alternative to replace Botox. This product is said to lead to tingling soft on the skin. By entering bee venom, body fooled and cause the blood leads to areas exposed to toxins and stimulates the natural production of collagen and elastin, which keep the skin taut.

"It also increases the number of cells called keratinocytes (keratinocytes), which acts as a barrier against environmental factors such as bacteria, water loss and sun damage," explains Dr. Han is a researcher at South Koreas National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, as reported by Dailymail , Tuesday (29/11/2011).

Keratinocytes are the cells in the top layer of the skin is needed to keep skin young, but the number of these skin cells will decrease which makes reduction of skin elasticity and the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.

And purified bee venom has been shown to increase the number of keratinocytes, which in turn improves skin elasticity.

"I have done extensive research and clinical trials to prove that purified bee venom can help the formation of collagen and prevent sun damage. Exposure to sunlight is one of the main causes of wrinkles because UV light increases levels of proteins that are responsible for the degradation of collagen in skin, "said Dr. Han.

According to Dr Han, no bees were harmed in this treatment, because any toxins collected using a special device that keeps bees in order to not get hurt.

"Extracted from bee venom using a safe process that ensures bee life, well-being and does not affect performance. Specialty glass surface (known as kolekter) placed along the gate nest and a weak electrical current is run through the surface, which encourages bee sting gently. Due bee sting surface, then it will not penetrate the stomach and the bees will remain intact. they will not die and was not injured, "said a spokesman for Holland and Barrett.

Bee venom has been collected will then be dried, harvested and purified to remove substances such as unwanted oil, dust and pollen.

Bee venom has been used in medical applications since ancient times. Bee venom also contains a protein called apamin which relaxes the muscles and is used in the treatment of arthritis is called apitherapy, and to relieve the symptoms of muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis.

Beat The Flu With Simple Home Remedies

influenzaIf you have fever, cough, nasal congestion, chills, aches and sore throat, then most probably you are suffering from flu. H1N1 is not that hard to treat. The influenza virus keeps on mutating every year, so its quite hard to develop a vaccine that can help in each winter. There are also many other reasons that you catch influenza in winters. These reasons include staying indoors with many people, virus ability to survive even on nonporous surfaces, and their airborne ability when someone coughs or sneezes.

There are many steps that can help you to feel better while suffering from influenza. These steps also include simple home remedies. Drink plenty of water as influenza can leave you dehydrated. Juices can also be a good choice to keep your bodys water content high. Drink juices with vitamin C in them as vitamin C helps boost up the immune system. Dont use the caffeine beverages as it is diuretic. You can drink herbal tea or ginger tea which can help you treat influenza quite magically. Ginger tea is not that hard to make. Just take an inch long peeled piece of ginger and boil it. When it starts boiling, add about 1/8 teaspoon of tea. Now pour it in your cup and add some sugar to taste. The ginger tea can help you feel better in flu. Also, drink chicken soup. The fumes of the soup also make you feel better.

Rest as much as you can. It will help your body concentrate its energy in fighting the disease. Give your body a little help in fighting the virus and lie down in a bed. Read some books and enjoy your soup or ginger tea. Gargles can help you a lot with your sore throat. Just put a teaspoon of salt in warm water and use it 2-4 times daily to moist your throat. Take a steamy shower. It will help reduce body aches and chills that you have in flu. A shower will help you feel better, but take care while taking a shower. Dont dry your body immediately as the flu can get worse.

Steam can help a lot in influenza. Take a pot and boil water in it. Now take a towel or blanket over your head and inhale the steam. Add some peppermint or eucalyptus oil in the water to open your nasal ways. Avoid this method if you have some other issues with your respiratory tract like asthma. If a friend or family member wants to help you in your illness, let them. Having someone around will make you feel better and you will have to step out of your blanket only when its necessary.

Take loads of vitamins and minerals. Vitamins and minerals like vitamin C and zinc help boost your immune system and hence, help you get well soon. Take zinc tablets or vitamin C tablets. While sleeping, put an extra pillow under your head that will keep your head up. This will ensure that you dont take in the mucus that is coming out. Avoid using aspirin if you have influenza. Sneeze and wipe the mucus with tissue paper. Use a new tissue every time you sneeze. Use some menthol hard candies to ease your throat. It will help open your throat and make you feel better.

Influenza is not that hard to cure. All you have to do is take some extra care of yourself, and you will be able to treat it in no time.

Taking Care of the Skin with Chinese Medicine

By Maureen M. Conant, L.Ac.

It’s summertime! The sun is shining (hopefully) and Seattle is a great place to be in the summer. More time spent outdoors and more skin exposed means more vulnerability to the sun’s damaging rays. Beautiful, healthy skin may or may not be something you are lucky enough to have been born with, but regardless, there are ways to enhance and improve the skin you’re in. Whether your concern is protecting your youthfulness, clearing up a nagging acne or eczema problem, or just creating a healthy glow, Chinese medicine can assist you.

Beauty problems that show up on the skin originate internally. Your skin is the largest organ of your body. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the skin is associated with the lungs and large intestine. This may seem a little strange, but if you think about it, they all share the function of filtering toxins. A diagnosis in TCM such as damp-heat in the large intestine or lung heat may be the internal root cause of your acne. The solution in those examples would be to clear the damp heat, clear toxins, cool and moisturize the lungs.
Not only is the balance of the internal organs important, but beautiful skin also depends on the abundance of blood, qi, and body fluids you have, which all nourish the skin. Someone with pale, sallow, dry skin may likely have a lack of Qi, Blood or Yin, which moisturize the skin and gives it a rosy glow. On the other hand, someone with oily skin, reddish complexion, or who is more prone to acne, tends to have an excess of yang and heat in the body. Your TCM practitioner will diagnose your condition and then aim to treat the yin/yang/organ imbalance with acupuncture, herbs and nutritional advice.

Your acupuncturist will select a combination of points to address your particular skin care concern. So, if you are battling acne, acupuncture can help to balance hormones. It also helps speed along the detoxification process, if your acne, eczema or dull skin is a result of toxic overload. Acupuncture facial rejuvenation treatments (an ‘acupuncture facelift’) slow the signs of aging and give your face a wonderful glow. Acupuncture can also reduce the appearance of scars.
Herbs are used to correct the underlying imbalance contributing to the skin problem. For cases of acne and eczema, or redness, the herbal formula would target clearing heat, dampness and toxins, while balancing the lungs and large intestine. For dull, dry sallow complexions, the herbal formula selected for you would target nourishing and replenishing a lack of Qi, Blood and moisture to the skin. This approach also leads to clearer skin because when Qi and blood are abundant and flow properly, wastes are removed more efficiently.
Just a few of the many herbs used in Chinese medicine for clearing the skin include: honeysuckle flower (jin yin hua), pearl powder (zhen zhu), gardenia fruit (zhi zi), lithospermum root (zi cao), peony root bark (mu dan pi), sophora root (ku shen), dandelion (pu gong yin), chrysanthemum flower (ju hua), and forsythia fruit (lian qiao). Others used for rejuvenating pale, tired and dry skin include: dang gui, ophiopogon root (mai men dong), prepared rehmannia root (shu di huang),glehnia root (bei sha shen), and asparagus root (tian men dong).
Chinese herbs can also be applied externally to help relieve eczema, rashes and sunburns.

Recipe for sunburn/sun damage: 1 tablespoon loose green tea leaves or 1 tea bag, 2 tablespoons aloe vera gel. Bring 1 cup of water to a boil and pour over green tea in a glass bowl. Steep until cool. Discard tea. Add aloe vera gel, mixing thoroughly. Apply to affected areas with cotton balls. Green tea has healing properties, is cooling and its antioxidant properties help repair sun damage.
Your skin is reflective of your diet and is an easy, effective way to improve your complexion. Foods that help nourish dry skin include: pears, bananas, apples, berries, cherries, melons, plums, chinese dates, avocados, black beans, mung beans, black sesame seeds, peanuts, almonds, olive oil, fish, chicken, and tofu. Foods to avoid for dry skin conditions are pungent, acrid foods such as garlic, peppers and ginger. Foods that help clear heat and detoxify include: asparagus, green veggies, cucumbers, lettuce, green beans, most fruits (with the exception of citrus), mung beans, and honey. Foods to avoid for excess heat conditions are hot spicy foods, alcohol, coffee, pungent foods, and oily foods.
Lifestyle is a big part of taking care of your skin. Naturally, always use sunscreen. Consider quitting smoking. Smoking causes damage to the skin and accelerates aging. If you are ready to tackle quitting smoking, acupuncture treatments help curb cravings. If you are trying to quit smoking, an herbal formula can be prescribed to help ease cravings and help nourish damaged lungs.
Skin regenerates at night, so dont skimp on sleep. Drink plenty of water to keep skin hydrated. Avoid using harsh skin care products with alcohol in them, which dry out the skin. Your routine should include a gentle cleanser, toner, moisturizer and sunscreen.

Recipe for a facial steam with the Chinese herb jin yin hua, (honeysuckle): 1/4 cup of dried honeysuckle blossoms. Bring 2 cups of water to boil and add the honeysuckle blossoms to the hot water in a glass bowl. Let steep for 2 minutes. Place the bowl on a solid surface, drape a towel over your head, allowing the vapors to steam your face for about 10 minutes, or until the water cools. Discard or drink the liquid. Honeysuckle flowers help clear toxins that can cause heat rashes, acne, and eczema.
Getting a moderate amount of exercise is also important. Your skin releases toxins when you sweat and the increased blood circulation helps filter wastes. To conclude, the key, according to Chinese medicine, is a combination of common sense, moderation and getting to know when your body’s patterns of disharmony arise. Consult a practitioner to get diagnosed and get help with your new skin routine, especially before taking any herbs.

Getting to Grips with and Understanding the Basics of High Blood Pressure

Hypertension means a great different things to different people. The Common definition refers to High Blood Pressure without alluding to any cause.

Because of the silent and insidious way it works in the background i.e. no symptoms it is referred to as the Silent Killer. If left uncontrolled or untreated then High Blood Pressure can cause a variety of illnesses all of which could kill if left to their own devices. In the United States of America alone their estimate to be 50 million sufferers of High Blood Pressure.

High blood pressure occurs more often in blacks—in 32% of black adults compared with 23% of whites and 23% of Mexican Americans. For blacks it would also appear the adverse consequences of high blood pressure were worse.

High blood pressure occurs more often in older people—in about three fourths of women and almost two thirds of men aged 75 or older, compared with only about one fourth of people aged 20 to 74. For those suffering with clinical obesity the incidences of high blood pressure rise by 200%.

It is a staggering figure that possibly only two thirds of the potential high blood pressure sufferers in the US have been diagnosed.Of these people, about 75% receive drug treatment, and of these, about 45% receive adequate treatment.

Hypertension is calculated by way of registering two figures. The first figure is the highest and reflects the highest pressure in the arteries upon contraction of the heart during the process known as systole. As would appear logical the second figure relates to the process of contraction within the heart known as diastole.

The traditional way of reporting blood pressure figures is calculated in millimetres of mercury and described as the systolic over the diastolic (120 over 80 etc). If the blood pressure readings were greater than a systolic pressure of 140 mm Hg and a diastolic pressure off greater than 90 mm Hg than to suffer was deemed to be suffering from high blood pressure.

However it has now been recognized that even these figures may be arbitrary as even the smallest increase in blood pressure is a risk. The limits were established because people with blood pressure above these levels are at increasing risk of complications.

Research has shown that it is not unusual for raised figures in both systolic and diastolic pressures for sufferers of high blood pressure. The one major exception to this widely accepted approach towards blood pressure is when it is arising through increased age whereby it is not uncommon to see a raised systolic pressure alongside a normal diastolic figure.

This disorder is called isolated systolic hypertension. Where the blood pressure is in excess of 180/110 mm Hg and there is an absence of associate symptoms then the entire condition is referred to as a hypertensive urgency.”

There has been an additional condition recognized as malignant hypertension and this occurs when blood pressure readings are in excess of 210/120 mm Hg.It occurs in only about 1 of 200 people who have high blood pressure.

Again the incidences of malignant hypertension is greater within the black community and amongst those people from the socioeconomic groups. Unlike hypertensive urgency, malignant hypertension may produce a variety of severe symptoms. If untreated, malignant hypertension usually leads to death in 3 to 6 months. Stephen Morgan writes regularly on High Blood Pressure issues and more information on the above can be found at High Blood Pressure,High Blood Pressure Symptom and also at www.livingwithhighbloodpressure.net/treatment.html

Can Acupuncture Really Help with Stress Relief

A simple trip to the bookstore is going to show you that there are many different ways in order for you to be able to relieve stress from your life naturally.  There is no end to self-help books, and each of them is going to have a different angle on this problem.  The difficulty is, many individuals are not going to be able to use each of these techniques in their own personal circumstances.  It can be difficult, as a matter of fact, to weed through all the noise and really find the one that is going to work the best for you.

At times, you may need to forget all of the new things that are available and get back to the basics of how to truly reduce your stress.  For example, the Chinese have been using acupuncture in order to reduce stress for thousands of years.  This is a technique that is all natural and can help the body to do some amazing things, provided the acupuncture is administered properly.  How well can it work for you and your stress levels?
The reason that acupuncture works so well is because it is based on an ancient Chinese principle that says that the body is full of energy and it is a free flow of this energy that keeps the body healthy.  The unfortunate thing is, all of us have an imbalance of some sort or another and this imbalance can block the free flow of energy, causing physical and mental problems.  That is what acupuncture was created for, as a way to stimulate areas of the body and release the energy that may be blocked at that point.  This can have an amazing effect on our mental outlook.
If youre feeling stressed and are unsure what to do about it, going to an acupuncturist a few times may be able to help to release this energy and give you some relief from your stressful situations.  Although an acupuncturist is not going to be able to take the stress out of your life by removing the situations that cause it, they can help you to give your body what it needs in a natural way that will allow it to cope successfully with the stress that is coming its way.  Its an ancient art, but it is one that can still help us today to overcome our problems.

Prevent Stroke with Citrus Fruit

Prevent Stroke with Citrus Fruit - Recent research shows that eating citrus fruit regularly can help reduce the risk of stroke. For this study, researchers focused on compounds called flavanone, which is found in citrus fruits.

"These data provide strong support for eating more fruit juice as a daily consumption to reduce the risk of ischemic stroke," says study leader Aedin Cassidy, head of the nutrition of Norwich Medical School, University of East Anglia, England.

There is a possibility that flavanone in citrus fruits improve blood vessel function or reduce inflammation, which has been associated with stroke, the researchers said.

Cassidy said, to gain maximum benefit from the flavanone, fruits should be presented in the form of juice and no added sugar.

The study was published online on February 23, 2012 in the journal Stroke, whose research is funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health.

Flavanones is a type of flavonoid which has been known for its ability to suppress the incidence of stroke risk is lower. In addition to fruits and vegetables, flavonoids are also found in red wine and dark chocolate.

For this study, the researchers focused on the six subclasses of flavonoids, including flavanone.

In the study researchers evaluated data from the U.S. Nurses Health Study for 14 years. The study involved nearly 70,000 women, who each reported their food intake every four years and include details about the consumption of fruits and vegetables. At the end of the study note that there are about 1803 cases of stroke occurring. Approximately half had ischemic stroke (blockage of blood vessels).

Researchers said the number of flavonoid intake did not reduce the risk of stroke, but flavanone intake may reduce the risk of stroke. Women who earn more flavanone intake have an increased risk 19 percent lower risk of ischemic stroke than those who eat them in small amounts.

The researchers found that 95 percent of consumption flavanone derived from citrus fruits and juices, especially orange and grapefruit juice. Participants who ate the fruit or orange juice at most, the risk of stroke was reduced by 10 percent.

Women who received the lowest intake of flavanone on average consume about 150 milligrams of flavonoids per day or less. While those who earn large amounts of flavanone intake consumed about 470 milligrams a day.

Mostly people with HIV AIDS is a Youth and Young Adult

AIDS stands Acquered Immune Deficiency Syndrome. AIDS is a disease that can not find a cure until now. The disease attacks the human immune system, making people more susceptible to disease. The disease is caused by the HIV virus. HIV stands for Human Immuno Virus. This virus attacks the CD4 lymphocyte cells in the human body that acts as the bodys defense system from infection. As a result, the immune system is down and susceptible to infection. The virus is transmitted in the event of mixing body fluids containing HIV, through sexual contact with someone who has HIV, through blood transfusions and organ transplants contaminated with HIV through needle sticks or other equipment contaminated with HIV, and the removal of the pregnant women who suffer HIV to her fetus.

HIV / AIDS has spread rapidly. This disease 20 years ago was not known at all, but is currently estimated at more than 60 million people are infected and more than 21 million people die from it. On average, every day there are 14 thousand people are infected, most are adolescents between 15-24 years of age. AIDS has become the fourth largest cause of death worldwide.

Estimates nationally by the Ministry of Health in 2002 the number of people living with HIV / AIDS in Indonesia is around 90-130 thousand. However, the recorded and reported only about 6000 people since 1987. Until now in Indonesia has found many cases of HIV / AIDS whose numbers tend to increase from year to year. Most cases of HIV / AIDS in Indonesia successively found in Jakarta, Papua, East Java, West Java, Bali, North Sumatra, West Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Riau and Riau Islands. While the age group most commonly found cases of HIV / AIDS is a young adult age group is aged 20-29 years, followed by 30-39 years in a row, 40-49 years and 15-19 years. According to the type of transmission of HIV / AIDS was found in IDUs (Intravenous Drugs Users), followed by heterosexual couples, homosexual transmission during birth, blood transfusions and others. Currently, Indonesia is no longer classified as a country with a low prevalence of infection, but it is an increase in the status of a concentrated epidemic.

The factors that led to the rapid increase of the epidemic in Indonesia is the highest among other drug use with needles that are not sterile, improvement or expansion of the sex industry serving 7-10 million customers every year and the lack of condom use by sex workers subscribers. If not immediately addressed then, HIV / AIDS will quickly negate the progress of development that has been achieved during this nation.

HIV / AIDS cases reported are just a tip of the iceberg, in which case the surface or the note is only a fraction of the truth. If we review the number of cases by age group is the most at a young age is the age of 15-49 years with the highest is 20-29 years of age. Seniors are considered age, so the increase in the number of cases will be affected economically and socially to the patient, the family and the countrys economy. Productive work force died, the number of orphans increases, leading to social and health burden. The high incidence of HIV / AIDS in adolescents and young adults may be caused by their ignorance about what HIV and AIDS itself, what causes it, how it is transmitted and how to prevent them from contracting the disease. Therefore it is very important to give the right information about the disease to the public, especially teenagers to increased cases did not occur in the future and there is no generation loss in our nation. The role of government and the community through non-governmental organizations is crucial.

The research was conducted by Dr. Paul Lachance, director of The Nutraceuticals Institute, a professor at Rutgers University, USA.
Measure of nutrient density is very commonly used by the dietitian to measure the nutritional value of certain foods, compared to other foods in equal portions. The higher the nutrient density of a food, the better the quality of the material.

Kiwi is a source of amino acids arginine and glutamate. Arginine is an amino acid that is a vasodilator (blood pressure lowering) and helps increase blood flow. Potassium is important for maintaining muscle function and motor nervous system reflexes. Potassium also plays a role in maintaining water balance in the body. Thats why athletes and heavy workers consume enough potassium is recommended.
Potassium is also believed to be high blood pressure-lowering mineral. On the other hand, the kiwi is almost no elements of sodium, which some researchers are recognized as trigger high blood pressure.

Lose Weight With Slim Fast

Slim Fast is basically a drink that you use to replace meals so that you can lose weight. By swapping out a couple of your meals each day with Slim Fast, and eating smart and exercising, you can lose weight relatively quickly. There are many people who sing the praises of Slim Fast as part of a weight loss regimen, and you could become one of them.

Instead of eating a full breakfast and lunch each day, down a can of Slim Fast. It does not matter which flavor you choose; just pop open a can and drink it. It may seem unusual to substitute an entire meal with what is basically a shake in a can, but you will find that is filling, particularly if you drink it slowly and also have a glass of ice water with it.

As you go throughout the day, you will want to eat a couple of small snacks -- one between breakfast and lunch, and the other between breakfast and dinner. Now, these "snacks" should not consist of a cheeseburger and fries; instead, they should have healthy components -- fruit, yogurt, cottage cheese, and other lowfat items. These snacks will help curb your hunger cravings throughout the day.

For your third meal of the day, you will want to eat a "sensible" dinner. This means that you will want to put together a healthy combination of carbs, vegetables and protein. The vegetables should take up about 50 percent of your plate, with the other half divided between the carbs and protein. Combined with the lower calories you are taking in with the shakes, you will see a major drop in caloric intake.

You will use a little bit of weight just through the changes to your diet. However, if you do not add an exercise program, your body will adjust to the lower caloric intake and simply slow down your metabolism -- and you wont lose any more weight. That will defeat the purpose of going to the program in the first place. Instead, make sure that you add some cardio and strength training to your new plan. Exercise will boost your metabolic rate, meaning that your body wont be able to slow down burning energy as easily. Strength training will create muscle -- and simply carrying muscle adds to the number of calories you burn each day. Cardio will boost your aerobic capacity, making it easier for you to keep exercising.

As with just about every other type of group, you can find support forums online for Slim Fast users. Here, you can talk to other people in the same boat as yourself and swap tips about sticking to the program. This way you wont have to feel like you are all alone.

If you want to lose weight without feeling like you never eat, mix in some Slim Fast with sensible dinners and a solid exercise regimen. You will still be able to eat your favorite foods, in moderation, and accomplish your goals for weight loss.
